Violinist Itzhak Perlman is selling his Manhattan home for $17.5 million


March 31, 2022, 2:34 PM · This week, superstar violinist Itzhak Perlman and his wife, Toby, put their Manhattan home up for sale for $17.5 million.

That’s quite a steep price, but it might not be much higher than his 1714 “Soil” Stradivarius, if Perlman sold his violin!

The townhouse, built in 1901, is located half a block from Central Park and half a dozen blocks from Lincoln Center at 21 West 70th St. on the Upper West Side. Click here for the list, which will give you a glimpse inside.

The six-story, 8,000 square foot townhouse features six bedrooms, five bathrooms, four powder rooms, a large kitchen, a private roof terrace, a patio and a garden. It also has an indoor swimming pool and a sauna, as well as an elevator serving all floors except the basement and the top floor.

Perlman, 76, is a soloist and conductor, who also teaches at the Juilliard School, having himself studied there with Dorothy DeLay and Ivan Galaman. He has won numerous honors and awards, including 15 Grammys, four Emmys, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He also teaches at Perlman Music Programa summer music program founded by Toby Perlman in 1994 on Shelter Island.
