Realme Smart TV 4k review: it throws a mixed bag, from Rs 27,999

Gone are the days when a 4K smart TV was considered out of reach for most middle-class consumers. Like smartphones, Chinese consumer tech brands have managed to dilute the prices of smart phones.

One such example is the recently launched 4K television from Realme.

The Realme Smart TV 4K can be purchased at Rs 27,999 for the 43-inch model and Rs 39,999 for the 50-inch model. It is quite simple, with thin borders, adding to its minimalist look. The TV is equipped with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos sound, which makes it the main features of this device. It offers Ultra-HD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) and supports various HDR formats including HDR10 and HDR10 +.

The television automatically detects Dolby Vision content and activates specific settings adapted to this content. For audio, the TV has a 24W quad speaker system that supports DTS HD, Dolby Audio and Dolby Atmos formats. The overall experience turns out to be a bit bittersweet.

This is because while the audio performance is impressive, the visual experience is not to your satisfaction as the colors sometimes seem a bit overexposed, especially with warm colors such as red and orange.

The Realme Smart TV 4K runs on Android TV 10 and offers a standard Android TV launcher, making it simple and easy to use. You get a few OTT apps preinstalled and more can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The TV is powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor and for connectivity it offers three HDMI ports (one of which supports HDMI ARMC), two USB ports, Bluetooth 5 and dual band Wi-Fi. The remote control is elegant, light, compact and functional. It only has essential and basic buttons. The Realme Smart TV 4K is a decent option. With features like Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, the larger 50-inch model should be ideal for you, albeit a bit more expensive.
