Henderson business growth continues, grant available for start-ups

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Henderson is Nevada’s second largest and fastest growing city and it doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

One of the latest developments is the Dollar Loan Center Arena which is nearing completion. It will be home to the Henderson Silver Knights AHL hockey team and various community events.

Scott Muelrath of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce says industrial parks in Western Henderson are expanding with the arrival of companies from California.

There is a lot of development planned for 2022 and it will have a ripple effect throughout the community.

“Whether it’s hotel rooms for the Big West basketball tournament in March, or people going out to dinner in the neighborhood after watching a game at the Dollar Loan Center. So it all works together in that sense, so we’re really excited about opening this place for the community, ”said Muelrath.

Healthcare space has also grown in Henderson. Over the past year, a new tower has been built at Henderson Hospital. A new medical campus will be built in West Henderson across from the Raiders training center.

If you are a new business owner, you may be eligible for a grant. Henderson’s Chamber of Commerce funded new tenants at Launchpad, a business incubator space. You can apply if your business is less than two years old, you’re a U.S. citizen, and you’re 51% minority-owned or female-controlled or U.S. veteran-controlled. It is designed for start-ups or home businesses.

“Our partner companies have pulled together this funding to help a startup take off and get started,” Muelrath said.

The app is open until the end of January and you can find more information at this link.
