The Minneapolis Federal Reserve Group of Information Technology Architects is seeking a versatile Software Engineer to work as part of our Development Operations Teams, supporting a diverse portfolio of applications. . Our teams work closely with business partners to design and develop code applications for several key companies in the organization. We are looking to add a versatile developer who could bring their expertise in the design and development of automated deployment mechanisms using scripting and expertise methodologies as part of development operations. Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the technical design and deployment of new functionalities, components or application infrastructures
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of local standards, models and practices for the technical design and deployment of application or infrastructure components.
  • Creates and maintains detailed documentation, such as: design diagrams, technical specifications and operational support manuals
  • Partners with service providers, such as National IT, as necessary during engineering design and deployment activities.
  • Implements and enforces policies and practices for system security and reliability.
  • Contributes to incident and problem management processes for supported application and platform components.
  • Designs and develops code to drive the automated delivery and configuration of application or platform components.
  • Collaborates with business owners, application developers, and QA engineers to perform application or platform component testing.
  • Assists business owners and application development teams with system requirements and environmental analysis.
  • Collaborates with application developers, QA engineers, product owners and others to create deployment procedures and best practices.
  • Collaborates with business owners and application development teams on system assessments and reviews, including analysis of capacity, reliability and performance of applications or infrastructure.
  • Evaluates and recommends new tools, techniques and processes to improve the speed, quality, efficiency and scalability of delivery.
  • Participate in and may lead groups / committees related to processes, standards and best practices.
  • Acts as an internal consultant providing technical advice to others.
  • Coach engineers and developers on appropriate techniques to design and develop scalable applications.
  • Interacts with technology vendors or partners to assist in the design, delivery or implementation of complex components or infrastructure.
  • Lead by example by demonstrating high performance in the areas of customer satisfaction, collaboration, teamwork and reliability.
  • Performs other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; major or course in computer science preferably
  • At least seven years of experience in an information technology environment, including at least five years of experience in the disciplines of design, engineering and administration.
    Extensive knowledge and experience in the field of technology.
  • Highly innovative problem-solving focus with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in the design and development of automated deployment mechanisms using script methodologies (PERL, Python, PowerShell, Shell) or other tools such as Terraform / Cloud Formation or Ansible / Chef / Puppet.
  • Mastery of a DevSecOps culture with knowledge or experience of delivery using Agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and as a technical expert within a team.
  • Must be a US citizen
