  • SkillCat (Houston, TX) – To address the challenge of unskilled workers without access to middle-class jobs, SkillCat is using a virtual simulator to train and place workers in high-demand skilled jobs in HVAC, telecommunications and energy.

June 17, 2021 – MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – gener8tor, a concierge start-up accelerator program, and ECMC Group, a non-profit organization with a mission to help students succeed, selected five startups to participate in the first Innovation accelerator for education and the OnRamp workforce. The 2021 cohort includes BeeReaders, ChalkTalk, Paragon One, SimiDigi, and SkillCat.

Gener8tor’s “OnRamp” model is designed to effectively connect startups, businesses and capital. The OnRamp Education & Workforce Innovation program was developed as a partnership between gener8tor and the ECMC Group Education Impact Fund to initiate innovation that promotes accessibility and positive outcomes for students and workers.

Leveraging this approach, each of the five startups will participate in a three-month Concierge Accelerator program in addition to receiving a cash investment of $ 100,000, over $ 1 million in offers and benefits from vendors like AWS, Rackspace, Microsoft, PayPal, Zendesk and HubSpot, support from the gener8tor team and alumni and mentor network, as well as one-on-one coaching and mentoring from the ECMC group.

The cohort was announced during the second OnRamp Workforce Education and Innovation Conference on June 17, an event that brings together leading companies, investors and startups from the education and workforce sectors to spotlight new technologies and leaders. Notably, the conference’s Startup Track offers one-on-one presentation sessions organized between selected startups and renowned companies, foundations and investors to discuss potential client relationships, strategic partnerships and, where appropriate, investment opportunities. Over 500 one-on-one meetings will be facilitated today at this year’s conference.
